James Randi has an international reputation as a magician and escape artist, but today he is best known as the world's most tireless investigator and demystifier of paranormal and pseudoscientific claims.
Randi has pursued "psychic" spoon benders, exposed the dirty tricks of faith healers, investigated homeopathic water "with a memory," and generally been a thorn in the sides of those who try to pull the wool over the public's eyes in the name of the supernatural.
The entertainment industry is known for its generosity in raising money for good causes. I'm pleased to see that my friend Jim Passé is lending his talents as an illusionist to benefit his foundation in this way. He has my best wishes and encouragement as he makes his way from NYC to the
Castle in L.A., even though impeded by the fact that he's blindfolded!
In my opinion, he'll probably have a better driving record that way, than some of my friends have while not so limited....
My advice: just stay out of his way; I know that I'll be safely on tour during his journey, and mostly in the air. That's my way out of dealing with a magician who insists on proving that he can do the impossible. But, come to think of it, that's what magicians do, isn't it?
Go, Jim!
